Tennis roundup: 'Rocks, 'Hounds, Royals get wins

The Westfield girls tennis team grabbed a Hoosier Crossroads Conference victory Wednesday, beating Lafayette Jeff 5-0 at the Shamrocks' courts.
Westfield, ranked No. 29 in the state, won all five matches in straight sets. No.1 Courtney Ramey, No. 2 Olivia Pursell and No. 3 Rachel Gidley breezed to wins in singles, while the doubles teams of No. 1 Maddy Grubb and Kelly Bedford at No. 1 and No. 2 Rachel Chapman and Kait Flederbach also picked up easy victories.
The 'Rocks travel to Heritage Christian on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. dual meet.

Tigers fall to Bulldogs
Fishers dropped a 4-1 Hoosier Crossroads Conference dual meet to Brownsburg Wednesday.
No. 1 singles Kailey Eaton picked up the Tigers' lone win, getting a 7-5, 6-1 victory.
Fishers will host Lafayette Jeff at 5 p.m. today in another HCC contest.

'Hounds blast Brebeuf
Top-ranked Carmel rolled past another top 20 team Wednesday, as the Greyhounds beat No. 19 Brebeuf Jesuit 5-0 at the Braves' courts.
Carmel lost only 12 games in raising its season record to 2-0. Singles winners were No. 1 Courtney Wild, No. 2 Mikaela Carlson and No. 3 Hayley Wild. In doubles, both No. 1 Sarah Rodefeld and Susie Chen and No. 2 Olivia Trancik and Annika Carlson won their matches easily.
The Greyhounds' junior varsity team also won, improving its record to 2-0 for the season.
Carmel hosts Metropolitan Conference rival and No. 10-ranked Center Grove at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Royals defeat Eagles
Hamilton Southeastern won a big HCC meet with Zionsville Wednesday, defeating the No. 11 Eagles 4-1 in an away meet.
The ninth-ranked Royals swept the singles, with No. 1 Carol Hsu, No. 2 Kristie Hsu and No. 3 Kelly Iden all getting straight set wins. No. 2 doubles Shelly Tang and Holly Becker won a tight two-set match, beating the Eagles 8-6 in a second-set tie-breaker.
The Royals play North Central on Monday.

No. 1 singles: Carol Hsu (HSE) def. Middleton (Z) 6-3, 6-2
No. 2 singles: Kristie Hsu (HSE) def. Mowatt (Z) 6-1, 6-0
No. 3 singles: Kelly Iden (HSE) def. Byam (Z) 6-2, 6-1
No. 1 doubles: Lina Goens and Stephanie Iden (HSE) lost to Mattison and Stebbins (Z) 7-6 (4), 7-5
No. 2 doubles: Shelly Tang and Holly Becker (HSE) def. Fair and Mattingly (Z) 6-4, 7-6 (6).
